ESP32-S3 Camera and Sensor Mega Starter Guide
This guide is for the ESP32-S3 camera and sensor mega starter kit. Treat it as two systems that meet later: camera first, sensors second, dashboard third, AI handoff last.
Camera path
- Confirm PSRAM and camera ribbon seating.
- Run a simple camera stream at low resolution.
- Save one still frame in good lighting.
- Check thermal behavior after five minutes of WiFi streaming.
Sensor path
Bring up one sensor at a time. Print raw values to serial before showing them on a page or display. For motion, distance, light, sound, temperature, and humidity modules, record units and sample interval.
Combined demo
After camera and sensors work separately, build a combined dashboard with camera snapshot, sensor values, last update time, and error count. Only then send still frames to an AI vision backend.
Troubleshooting
- Camera stream fails after adding sensors: check power budget and free GPIO conflicts.
- Sensor readings jump: slow polling and keep wires short.
- AI result is poor: improve lighting and save the source frame for comparison.
